Handball-EM: World Champion France wins European Championship bronze medal

Consolation prize for the world champion: French handball champions Nikola Karabatic, led by superstar Nikola Karabatic, won a bronze medal after missing the final draw at the European Championships in Croatia.

The French defeated Denmark in a new edition of the Olympic final in Zagreb with 32:29 (17:14) and won the bronze medal for the second time after 2008.

In the semi-final France had unexpectedly failed to Germany’s contenders Spain (23:27) and Olympic champion Denmark had lost to record European champion Sweden (34:35). The final takes place on Sunday evening.

The Frenchman’s best thrower was Karabatic with nine goals, while Hans Lindberg from Bundesliga club Füchse Berlin scored twelve goals for the Danes.
