After his qualifying defeat at the Australian Open Bernard Tomic wanted to count his millions – now he surprised with a participation in the African jungle camp.
In qualifying for Melbourne, Tomic made a very willing impression on his side to get his tennis career back on track and only narrowly failed in round three. But how serious he is about attacking again remains questionable – because Tomic is currently playing in the African jungle instead of on the training ground.
In the Australian edition of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here Tomic started his service on the first day of the Melbourne Final Sunday. He didn’t do this for money, but because he always wanted to participate, he said. Tomic further explained that he wanted to change his image with his participation. With the 25-year-old in the camp, ex-AFL pro Josh Gibson and actress Kerry Armstrong are among others.
However, Tomic missed his first test: when he tried to get a key out of a box, he retreated after five snakebites into his hands.
From the odds, his colleagues Roger Federer and Marin Cilic beat each other better: The Australian Open finals saw 1.73 million viewers in Australia (previous year: 2.8 million), Tomic’s appearance in the jungle, after all, 1.27 million.
