ATP: Tournament Calendar 2019 – everything remains different

For German-speaking tennis fans, the ATP tournament calendar for 2019 offers planning security – all tournaments in the German-Austrian region take place on their usual dates.

In 2020, there may be drastic changes on the ATP tour (e. g. due to the revival of the World Team Cup at the beginning of a calendar year). In the coming season, however, tennis fans are expecting business as usual – with one small exception: the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Istanbul no longer appears in the calendar published by ATP, and there could be a new venue in parallel to the events in Estoril and Munich.

After the guest appearance in the Bavarian capital, the German fans get to see the ATP pros on grass again as usual, first in Stuttgart, then in Halle/Westphalia the following week. The German Open will be played in the second week after Wimbledon am Hamburger Rothenbaum.

For the time being, nothing happened with the exchange of dates between Kitzbühel and Umag. The Croats would like to start later, but on Hartplatz. In 2019, however, Kitzbühel will end the clay court season as usual. At the end of October, 500 ATP points are traditionally awarded in the Wiener Stadthalle.

There were no changes in the tournament categories either: Basel, for example, had pushed for an upgrade to 750 points, while Indian Wells and Shanghai had again speculated on the creation of a new 1500 category.
