WTA: After 15 defeats in a row: Mladenovic stops black series in pc.

Kristina Mladenovic has won another match on the WTA Tour for the first time since August 2017. The Frenchwoman was the one I bet at the premier event in St. Gallen. Petersburg against former WTA World Champion Dominika Cibulkova.

The Russian metropolis on the Baltic Sea is a place where Kristina Mladenovic obviously feels particularly comfortable. In the previous year, the world rankings tenth place was secured in St. Gallen. Petersburg their first and so far only single title – now their long defeat series ends here.

Mladenovic’s 6-4,6-4 win over Dominika Cibulkova was her first win in six months when she won Tatjana Maria at the Citi Open in Washington. D.C. defeated.

With a big heart and “D” in the middle, the overjoyed winner immortalized herself in the obligatory camera autograph. The love greetings were of course addressed to Dominic Thiem, who was in St. Peter’s. Pölten will compete for Austria in the Davis Cup on Friday.

The fact that the 24-year-old’s form curve is pointing upwards again was already evident at the Australian Open, where Mladenovic won the doubles’ competition with Hungarian Timea Babos.

In the quarter-finals, the defending champion will face Katerina Siniakova. The Czech had won after two sets against local heroine Ekaterina Makarova.
