Davis Cup: All’s well: Dominic Thiem scores 2:0

Dominic Thiem won his first singles match in the Davis Cup match against Belarus. The sixth place in the world ranking was won against Dzimitri Zhyrmont after one hour and 14 minutes with 6:3,6:3. After Gerald Melzer’s fiercely contested opening victory, Austria’s 2-0 win in the Europe/Africa Zone I will be decisive on Saturday.

Austria’s number one won 6-3,6-3,6-3 and improved the starting position before the second and final Davis Cup day.

Thiem got off to a dream start, taking Zhyrmont’s serve right from the start. But he stayed on the rest of the set, but Thiem didn’t let a breakball and served for the lead of the set.

In the second set, Thiem used his first breakball against the number 389 to score a 4:2, after 1 hour and 13 minutes he served up to the approximate win.

Further information directly from St. Pölten will follow shortly!
