WTA: Three-set defeat against Kvitova: Görges fails in semi-final

Julia Görges has won the final of St. Görges. Petersburg and thus missed a first-time place in the top ten of the Tenis world rankings.

The 29-year-old from Bad Oldesloe, seeded number five, was defeated in the semi-final by two-time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic) with 5:7,6:4,2:6. For Görges it was his second defeat in the past 20 matches.

Kvitova, number two in the world in October 2011, will meet Daria Kasatkina (Russia/No. 8) from Wozniacki in the final on Sunday, or Kristina Mladenovic from France, who is seeded to No. 4.
