Petra Kvitova has won the tournament in St.. Petersburg after an outstanding performance in the final against Kristina Mladenovic.

After just over an hour, Kvitova won 6-1,6-2 over the defending champion and won her biggest title after being badly injured at her batting hand as a result of an apartment break-in a year and a half ago.

For the two-time Wimbledon champion, an outstanding week ends with clear wins against Elena Vesnina (6:2,6:0) and Jelena Ostapenko (6:0,6:2) – as well as the semi-final triumph in a classy match over Julia Görges. This was the first time he had made it to the top ten for the first time, but by winning the final over Mladenovic he made it possible again.

But the French woman also had reason to celebrate. After 15 defeats in a row, she played a good week and will at least stay in 13th place on Monday.
