ATP: Bladder still not healed: Chung is missing in Sofia and New York

Australian Open semi-finalist Hyeon Chung continues to suffer from a painful foot injury that forced him to retire in Melbourne. The South Korean therefore had to cancel his start at the ATP World Tour 250 tournaments in Sofia and New York.

It was not a sight for tender minds that Hyeon Chung expected of his followers in the social networks. It quickly became clear that the deep bladder on the ball of the left foot would cause a longer forced pause.

The U21 champion of Milan won the Australian Open with glorious victories over Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic, the first Korean to earn a place in the semi-finals of a major. In the eagerly awaited generational duel against the later tournament winner Roger Federer, Chung had to pull the emergency brake already in the second set.

Because the healing flesh does not allow lightning to flash, said the world rankings-29. I was really looking forward to these tournaments, but my foot still needs some time to recover,”Chung said on Twitter.

Nevertheless, the New York Open has a highly interesting youngster in its portfolio with the award of a wildcard to Sebastian Korda. The 17-year-old son of former Australian Open winner Petr Korda will be playing on the ATP stage for the first time at the premiere event in the “Big Apple” and Sebi Korda won the junior competition in Melbourne with a 7:6 (8:6), 6:4 against Tseng Chun Hsin from Taiwan. Afterwards the junior had celebrated the famous Korda scissor jump like his father once did.

Sebastian Korda was motivated by the final success of his daddy against Chilean Marcelo Rios from 1998,”On Youtube. Not the whole match, but almost,”said Sebastian Korda, who made no secret of his admiration for his daddy Petr:”He was an incredible player, so talented. And he’s still incredible.”
