ATP: Mischa Zverev loses at Montpellier comeback

Mischa Zverev was eliminated in the first round of the ATP tournament in Montpellier. 20 days after his first-round match at the Australian Open, the 30-year-old lost to local hero Benoit Paire with 4:6,4:6.

Zverev had given up in Melbourne against the later semi-finalist Chung Hyeon 2-6,1-4. He had been injured by an injury to the shoulders and infected, so he was missing from the Davis Cup first-round victory in Australia (3-1) last weekend.

In accordance with the stricter rules for first-round tasks at the Grand Slam tournaments, Zverev was then fined 45,000 dollars (37,600 euros). 47,000 dollars he had received as prize money.

From a German perspective, Dustin Brown (Winsen/Aller) and qualifier Yannick Maden (Stuttgart) will be competing at the tournament in Montpellier, which is endowed with 560,000 euros. Maden will meet Gilles Simon in the first round on Tuesday, while Brown will face Nicolas Mahut (both from France) on Wednesday.
