ATP: Marterer reaches second round in Sofia

Maximilian Marterer (Nuremberg) has reached the round of sixteen at the ATP tournament in the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

The 22-year-old won his opening match against the Tunisian Malek Jaziri 7:6 (7:4), 6:4 and will meet the Portuguese Joao Sousa in the next round.

Philipp Kohlschreiber (No. 4) had a walk-through in the first round of the tournament, which was endowed with 561,345 euros. The Augsburg player will face Mirza Basic (Bosnia-Herzegovina) on Wednesday evening, who had eliminated Florian Mayer (Bayreuth) the day before.
