ATP: Quito: Quarter-finals for Gerald Melzer

Gerald Melzer has been eliminated from the Ecuador Open. Things are going better for Alexander Peya in Sofia.

Melzer was defeated by two seeded Albert Ramos-Vinolas with 2:6,4:6 and missed the semi-final of the clay court tournament.

The day before, he had caused a stir with his victory over Victor Estrella Burgos: Estrella Burgos had previously been unbeaten in Quito and had won the tournament three times in a row since its premiere in 2015.

In Sofia, however, Alexander Peya is in the final. At Nikola Mektic’s side he won against Nicholas Monroe/John-Patrick Smith 6-2,6-4. Scott Pipsky/Divij Sharan and Robin Haase/Matwe Middelkoop will play the other final match on Saturday afternoon.
