WTA: Victoria Azarenka must also fit in Doha

The nightmare for Victoria Azarenka continues: due to her custody dispute, former number one in the world had to cancel her start in Doha.

Auckland – Cancellation. Australian Open – Cancellation. And now also the withdrawal from the field of participants of the WTA tournament in Doha. The fans of Victoria Azarenka still have to wait for the return of the two-time Majority winner, because the quarrel over custody of her son Leo continues to keep the Belarussian woman in her adopted country of California.

The only good news is that this is where the next tournament will take place, when Azarenka wants to start a return home, the BNP Parisbas Open in Indian Wells. And within the US state, Azarenka can also move with Leo.

A second former top executive could also celebrate her return in Indian Wells: Svetlana Kuznetsova. The two-time major champion had reached the final in 2017, underwent countrywoman Elena Vesnina. Since the WTA tournament in Beijing last autumn, Kuznetsova has not shown himself on tour, due to surgery on the left wrist.

“I’m already able to hit balls with my left arm, which is good,”explained Kuznetsova in a radio interview,”At the moment I train twice a day. I plan to come back sometime in March or April. If all goes well, I’ll play Indian Wells and Miami.”
