ATP: Surprise in Rotterdam: Wawrinka loses against Griekspoor

Stan Wawrinka has already failed in round one at the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam.

The double major winner lost against 21-year-old local hero Tallon Griekspoor, who was only in the field by wildcard. For Griekspoor, number 259 in the world, it was the first victory on ATP level.

Wawrinka was far away from his normal form and seems to need time on the way back. The Swiss had undergone knee surgery last year and had been out of action since the Wimbledon tournament. He had just made his comeback at the Australian Open. He reached the semi-finals in Sofia last week.

Griekspoor will now play Robin Haase or Thiemo de Bakker. In a win, he could face Roger Federer in the quarter-finals.
