ATP: Dimitrov and Goffin continue in Rotterdam, Pouille out

Two of the favourites, Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin, played their way into the next round in Rotterdam on Wednesday. However, the winner of Montpellier was eliminated.

Last week, Grigor Dimitrov had to cancel his start at the home event in Sofia, and with that also the chance to defend his title, in the ATP World Tour 500 tournament the Bulgarian has now managed a successful start against Yuichi Sugita. Dimitrov had to fight in the second set, but won after 1:46 hours 6:4 and 7:6 (5). My next opponent is Dimitrov Filip Krajinovic, who finished in second place and narrowly beat the Canadian junior Félix Auger-Aliassime in round one.

David Goffin is already in the round of sixteen: after an effortless 6:1 and 6:3 defeat of Nicolas Mahut, the Belgian, number four of Dimitrov’s regular semi-final opponents in Rotterdam, held out for Feliciano Lopez with exactly the same result.

Lucas Pouille, on the other hand, who was still champion at the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Montpellier on Sunday, was eliminated. Pouille lost to the Russian Andrej Rublev after 93 minutes 5:7 and 4:6. Richard Gasquet, Montpellier finalsite Richard Gasquet, had to give up after just four games against his fellow countryman Pierre-Hugues Herbert due to injury.
