Cycling: Algarve Tour: Degenkolb in sixth place in Groenewegen success

The German professional cyclist John Degenkolb missed the stage win in the mass sprint at the start of the five-day Algarve Tour in Portugal.

The 29-year-old crossed the finish line in sixth place on the 192.6-kilometre stretch from Albufeira to Lagos in the success of Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen.

Tony Martin, who sees great opportunities on his first round trip of the year, especially in the individual time trial on the third leg, crossed the finish line with the main field.
