After 57 minutes, Australian Open winner Wozniacki turned her third match point and celebrated her 13th birthday. Victory in the 15. Game 2018. The 22-year-old Witthöft, however, retired from the German duel with Tatjana Maria (Bad Saulgau) one day after her clear two-match win as the third DTB starter. Previously, Mona Barthel (Neumünster) had already just failed in her opening match at the 2.897 dollar Qatar Total Open. Witthöft had recently suffered from an ear infection and therefore canceled her participation in the Fed Cup match against hosts Belarus in Minsk (3:2).

On Wednesday, Angelique Kerber (Kiel/No. 8) and Julia Görges (Bad Oldesloe/No. 9) will also be playing at the Premier 5 tournament at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha. Andrea Petkovic from Darmstadt had lost in the qualifying match against Monica Niculescu from Romania, who then surprisingly eliminated former number one Maria Sharapova (Russia) in the first round. The defending champion on the peninsula in the Persian Gulf is Czech Karolina Pliskova, who is fifth.
