ATP: No official resignation: Haas postpones career end even further

Not so fast: Tommy Haas can well imagine being even more involved in the tennis circus. This was announced by the Hamburg native’s management.

Even at the age of almost 40, Tommy Haas can’t break away from being a professional tennis player. After the former world rankings runner-up had talked about his “last match” in the Californian newspaper Desert Sun on Friday, hinting at his career’s end, his management now announced:”Tommy Haas did not officially resign in the aforementioned interview!

Haas, who died on 3. According to the statement of his consultant Edwin Weindorfer, who is also responsible for the grass court tournament in Stuttgart, who will be celebrating his 40th birthday in April,”wants to keep the opportunity open to take part in the ATP tour again in a double competition”. Haas is also planning some show matches and participation in the American Champions Tour, where he will compete against former pros like John McEnroe or Jim Courier.

“It’s quite possible that my victory against Roger Federer in Stuttgart in June 2017 was my last single win in the singles and my game against Jan-Lennard Struff in Kitzbühel in August 2017 was my last singles match on the ATP tour,” said Haas:”But if I feel the tingling sensation once again, I want to keep the option open for me to compete in doubles on the ATP tour.

Haas is currently focusing on his role as Tournament Director at the Masters in Indian Wells:”It’s agreed with Tommy that there will be a more concrete statement from him about his future plans after the tournament in March,” said Weindorfer:”It’s a matter of concern to Tommy Haas to say goodbye to his many fans as soon as it becomes clear that Tommy will no longer be at the ATP.

In his career, Haas has won 15 titles on the 2000 Olympic silver medal in Sydney. However, he was not allowed to win a Grand Slam title, as he was denied a total of nine surgeries, four of them on his right shoulder, repeatedly threw the native of Hamburg behind him. Haas has been living in the USA for years, is engaged to actress Sara Foster and has two daughters with her.
