WTA: Petra the Great!

Petra Kvitova won the final of the WTA premier event in Doha against Garbine Muguruza 3-6,6-3 and 6-4. With this move, the Czech returns to the top ten and displaces Julia Görges from the Bel Etage.

Muguruza could not have imagined a better start. The reigning Wimbledon winner quickly took the lead 5-0. Kvitova was able to lose another service game for the Spaniard, but it didn’t help: After 33 minutes, the new third place in the world rankings won the first round.

As a result, the Czech, who benefited from Julia Görges’ hip injury in the quarter-finals, played better. Kvitova coach Jiri Vanek had apparently chosen the right approach during the coaching break. The fatigue that the 27-year-old complained about was no longer a stumbling block. With a 4:2 break in the back, Kvitova made the set equalization perfect.

After everything looked like title number six for Muguruza in the beginning, Kvitova was finally able to turn the tide in the decision. The left-handed woman, who was already in St. Guggenheim. Petersburg triumphed, declining the former number one service at 3:2. After that, the two-time Wimbledon champion left nothing to be desired. After a backhand mistake by Muguruza, Kvitova was allowed over her 22nd birthday. Cheer for career titles

Kvitova Julia Görges is the tenth in the world on Monday after having gained 900 new World Ranking Points.
