Basketball: BBL: Göttingen signs Buford under contract

The German Bundesliga basketball club BG Göttingen, threatened with relegation, has signed the American William Buford for the season-end spurt.

As the club announced on Monday, the last clubless 28-year-old shooting guard is expected to arrive in Göttingen on Wednesday. The commitment was made possible by the additional commitment of some sponsors.

The 1.96-metre-large Buford, who was already active for the Tigers Tübingen in the BBL in the 2015/16 season, was last under contract with the French first division club BCM Gravelines Dunkerque until November 2017.

“In Will we have found a player who has already gained experience in Germany,”said BG coach Johan Roijakkers:”In addition, he will give us more physics on the wing positions”. After eleven defeats in a row, Göttingen is in third last place in the standings.
