WTA: Dubai: Angelique Kerber leaves Pliskova no chance either

The former world number one Angelique Kerber (Kiel) made it to the semi-finals at the high-class WTA tournament in Dubai, as in the previous year.

The German top player defeated the Czech Karolina Pliskova, who was seeded number three and against whom Kerber had won her second Grand Slam title in the final of the US Open 2016,6:4,6:3.

Kerber now stands at 19 wins from 21 seasonal matches. In the duel of the former number-one players, the North German was able to relieve her powerful opponent of service three times. Pliskova, however, did not have a breakthrough. For Kerber it was her seventh victory in the tenth duel with the Czech.

In the round of the top four, the ninth in the world rankings will meet Elina Svitolina. The Ukrainian is in first place in Dubai.
