ATP: Federer cancels start in Dubai

Roger Federer (36) canceled his start at the ATP tournament in Dubai next week. This was announced by the organizer of the hard court event in the United Arab Emirates on Friday evening.

Previously, Federer, who had already won the $2.5 million tournament in Dubai seven times, had announced his participation in the Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony on Tuesday in Monte Carlo via Twitter. The 36-year-old Swiss is a hot contender for the trophies in the “Sportsman of the Year” and “Comeback of the Year”categories.

Federer maintains his top position in the world rankings, regardless of his permanent rival Rafael Nadal (Spain) at the ATP tournament in Acapulco.
