The ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Delray Beach may have one of the youngest quarter-finals ever. Well, Peter Gojowczyk and Steve Johnson are two of the last eight men of the best age – and with different form curves – Evgeny Donskoy doesn’t pass as a youngster either.

Hyeon Chung, sensational Australian Open semi-finalist and winner of the #NextGen Master last November in Milan, will face Frances Tiafoe on his comeback after a brief injury break. He had beaten former champion Juan Martin del Potro in three sets in a match interrupted by rain. Chung is the last remaining lawman in Delray Beach, number eight.
The youngest man in the main draw, 18-year-old Denis Shapovalov, was able to keep Jared Donaldson safe after his opening win against Ivo Karlovic in round two. Shapovalov and Tiafoe had their first experiences in Prague last September at the Laver Cup. Frances Tiafoe forced Roger Federer into a fifth set, while Shapovalov defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on the way to the fourth round.
Taylor Fritz again, age-wise also in the #NextGen category, defeated Mikhail Youzhny after Sam Querrey and now competes with Shapovalov. Eventually, Reilly Opelka, Jack Sock, who was number one of the tournament, had successfully completed his work.
Opelka will now face Gojowzcyk (not before 2:30 p. m. Orstzeit), the only duel the German has won so far last year in Indian Wells.
