ATP: Gojowczyk in the final of Delray Beach

Peter Gojowczyk (28) has continued his winning streak and is in the final of an ATP tournament for the second time in his career.

The world rankings 64. from Munich won in Delray Beach in the round of the top four against Steve Johnson from the USA 7:6 (7:3), 6:3, and will now face Denis Shapovalov (Canada) or Frances Tiafoe (USA). In his first final appearance last year in Metz he had won his only title so far.

After 1:23 hours Davis Cup player Gojowczyk turned his first match point on Centre Court. Also 15 aces of local hero Johnson, who is ranked 51st in the ATP ranking, did not shock “Gojo”. Gojowczyk had reached the quarter-finals at his first two tournaments of the season in Doha/Katar and Auckland/New Zealand, but failed to make it to the semi-finals.
