Basketball: Rödl proud:”Are a growing basketball nation”

National coach Henrik Rödl praised the German basketball players in the highest tones after their convincing victory in the World Cup qualification over Serbia (79:74).

“You don’t win every day against the Serbs,”the 48-year-old said,”I’m very proud.”

After their third win in the third game, the German Basketball League will be leading Group G. Serbia, silver medallist at the Olympics, World Championships and European Championship, is second after his first defeat. On Sunday (16.00 hrs in the LIVETICKER) the DBB team in Tbilisi against Georgia will be able to announce their progress into the second group stage.

“We are a growing basketball nation, but now we have to confirm our victory,”said Rödl. He trusts every single player:”We don’t care who’s on the field.”

Germany (3-0) and Serbia (2-1) are followed by Georgia (1-2) and Austria (0-3). The points will be taken into the second qualifying phase. Then it continues in groups of six, three teams each book a ticket for the 2019 World Cup in China.
