ATP: Kohlschreiber in Dubai in Round Two

Philipp Kohlschreiber has reached the last sixteen at the ATP tournament in Dubai. The 33-year-old Augsburger, in sixth place, easily won his opening match against French qualifier Gleb Sakharov 6-4,6-2.

In the next round Kohlschreiber will meet 19-year-old Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas or Mikhail Kukushkin from Kazakhstan.

In addition to Kohlschreiber, Florian Mayer (Bayreuth), Jan-Lennard Struff (Warstein) and qualifier Yannick Maden (Stuttgart) will be taking part in the 3.057 million dollar hard court tournament in Dubai. On Monday Mayer will meet the Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, who is in third place.

Last year, Kohlschreiber’s failure in Dubai at the then world number one, Andy Murray, was almost complete. The Scotsman, who is currently pausing due to a hip injury, had to fend off eight match points from Kohlschreiber.
