Change in the WTA World Ranking: Simona Halep greets again from the top, best German is still Angelique Kerber.
Angelique Kerber has lost a place in the world rankings after her semi-final draw at the WTA tournament in Dubai. The 30-year-old Kieler is now in tenth place, followed by two places behind by Julia Görges (29) as the second-best German. The Fed Cup player from Bad Oldesloe had cancelled her start in Dubai due to a hip injury. Kerber was overhauled by Petra Kvitova, Görges swapped places with Johanna Kontakt.
At the top, Simona Halep (Romanian) replaced the Danish Australian Open winner Caroline Wozniacki. Mona Barthel (Neumünster), who had reached the semi-finals in Budapest, improved by eight places to 66th place. Third place went to Garbine Muguruza, who had failed in Dubai in the semi-finals, and fourth place went to Garbine Muguruza after successfully defending her title in the Elina Svitolina desert.
From an Austrian point of view, Barbara Haas holds the top spot with 176th place.
