ATP Challenger/Futures: The fifth star for the savings banks OPEN

The star banner is growing: for the fourth time in a row and for the fifth time in total, the Sparkassen OPEN will receive the award from the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) as “Best ATP Challenger Tournament 2017”.

For the third time in the German Masters Series, the tournament was chosen by the players of the ATP Challenger Tour as the best event,”It’s a great honour for us to receive this award again, especially because it’s the players who have chosen us as the best Challenger,”says Tournament Director Volker Ja? cke,”I would like to thank the players and the ATP on behalf of the entire team. Harald Tenzer, head of the organizing Brunswiek Marketing GmbH, is also proud of the tournament’s success:”Particularly with regard to our sponsors and partners, we are happy to have established the Sparkassen OPEN on this high level here in the region,”he says. He is particularly proud that the first worldwide ATP Challenger Workshop with 75 tournament organisers from five continents and 25 countries was held in Braunschweig as part of the savings banks OPEN 2017.

“Like all other tournaments of the ATP Challenger Tour, the Sparkassen OPEN are incredibly important for the aspiring young players,”said Alison Lee (Australia), vice president and chairwoman of the ATP Challenger Tour Management Committee. The best example: Alexander Zverev, today the number four in the world rankings, won the tournament in Braunschweig in 2014.

This year the ATP Challenger celebrates Jubila? um in Braunschweig. The 25. Edition is from 05. – 14. July, again parallel to the second Wimbledonweek, at the Braunschweig THC. Approximately 35,000 visitors are expected on the ten days. In 2018, the high social significance of this event will once again be accompanied by attractive evening music acts and culinary diversity.

In addition to Braunschweig, the tournaments in Heilbronn and Vancouver also received the award for “Best ATP Challenger Tournament 2017″. Neckarcup Tournament Director Metehan Cebeci was delighted with the award:”We are happy that our efforts have paid off. In just four years, we have achieved two of our main goals: raising the prize money to 85,000 euros and becoming one of the best challengeers in the world.”
