ATP: Stan Wawrinka cancels Indian Wells and Miami

After his assignment in Marseille and a stuttering start to the season, Stan Wawrinka wants to get in full shape before starting again.

“Unfortunately, I have to report that I can’t play in Indian Wells and Miami. Both are great tournaments, but coming back from a major surgery is complicated. After playing a few tournaments, I decided with my team that it’s best to keep on building and going back to practice. I enjoyed playing tournament tennis again and that gives me even more motivation to go back to the training ground. My goal is to regain my highest level and I will work hard every day,”Wawrinka is quoted.

I must be patient and give my body the time it needs “He hopes to be fit again on sand,” because I love this part of the season,”said Wawrinka, who continued to thank his fans for their great support.

Last year, the Swiss had undergone surgery on his right knee. After a comeback at the Australian Open he reached the semi-finals in Sofia, but then lost at the start in Rotterdam and gave up in Marseille due to knee problems in the first match.
