The college basketball season is entering its heyday. The March Madness (selected matches live on DAZN) marks the start of the final tournament, in which the best team of the current season will be selected. SPOX gives an overview of the draw, the Selection Sunday and the game mode.
In March, the whole of America will be looking to those 68 teams who make it into the NCAA tournament. In the current season, a total of 351 schools are taking part in 32 conferences – in a way, their own leagues – in the highest division I category.
The winners of the 32 Conferences qualify with 36 other invited teams for the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament. This tournament is better known as March Madness. In it, the US-American champion in college basketball is chosen.
The March Madness attracts immense attention in the USA. Year after year, fans try to predict not only the winner but also the entire tournament progress. In contrast to the playoffs in the NBA, for example, the teams don’t play against each other in a best-of-seven series, but only one knockout match. This increases the likelihood of underdogs advancing further than expected, contributing to the tournament’s popularity.
This year’s tournament starts on 13. March in Dayton, Ohio with the “First Four”, an intermediate round in which four teams compete for two “wildcard places”. The March Madness is divided into seven rounds:
DAZN not only shows selected games of the NBA, but also has the games of the NCAA in its program. When the March Madness is hot, you won’t miss a game on DAZN.

But it’s not just basketball: DAZN also has Europe’s top football leagues from England, France, Spain and Italy in its program. The ceremony of the draw – Selection Sunday – will take place on Monday night, the 12th day. March. Then the bracket is fixed for the entire tournament, which ends with the final four in San Antonio.
