In an emotional post, Anna Veith looks back on the last four years. Four years showing the time from gold at the Olympic Games in Sochi (2014) to silver in Pyeongchang (2018).
But there were also four years in which she was repeatedly thrown back by serious injuries. For the Salzburg woman from Salzburg, this period was not only the way from “Sochi to Pyeongchang” but also “From gold to silver, from heaven to hell, from pain to happiness”, as she writes in her instagram posting.
In addition to the numerous photos they show while skiing, in jubilant poses, relaxing or training, there is also a photo that is not for the faint-hearted. The 28-year-old also published a photo of her open knee during her surgery three years ago.
On page 2 of your posting you can see the operation photo.
A fall in October 2015, in which Veith tore the anterior cruciate ligament, the inner ligament and the patellar tendon in her right knee, caused a serious setback to her career. A further operation was necessary in 2017 due to chronic patellar tendon inflammation in the left knee.
Hard months of the comeback fight were the result, which was finally crowned with the silver one in the Super-G of Pyeongchang “Silver shines like gold to me,”Veith said happily after the race in South Korea.
