ATP: Three days to match for Africa 5

For the second time Roger Federer will play his “Match for Africa” in the USA: Next Monday in San Jose against Jack Sock. Microsoft founder Bill Gates is also on board again.

Rotterdam. Monte Carlo. San Jose? Why, yes! These are the main stations where Roger Federer has been moving during the last few days, or at least where he is now. will move. In Rotterdam, the Maestro won the title and number one in the world, in Monte Carlo, he scored two trophies at the Laureus Awards (that’s when Benedict Cumberbatch returned the briefly borrowed trophy?) – and in northern California, the fifth match for Africa is due for next Monday.

Playing partner Federers will be primarily Jack Sock, but Bill Gates will also use the racket to get as many US dollars as possible for the good cause. Specifically, the proceeds will go to the Roger Federer Foundation, which has been making a contribution to the construction of schools in Africa for years.

Rafael Nadal, Stan Wawrinka, Andy Murray (all together in Switzerland) and last but not least John Isner in Seattle have tried their hand at sock. Bill Gates was also already there – and contributed his share to the fact that Roger Federer’s foundation was able to receive more than two million US dollars.

Nevertheless, while Roger Federer is still unbeaten in 2018 in both official (Australian Open, Rotterdam) and unofficial (Hopman Cup, and incidentally also against his opponent on Monday), Jack Sock, who made his way to the ATP finals in London with a late run last year for the first time, looks rather bleak: After first-round defeats in Auckland and Mel Reilly Opelka beat Reilly Opelka in round two, and the first match against Ernesto Escobedo was also the last in Acapulco.
