Tie Break Tens: Serena and Marion Bartoli take off in New York City

Who would have thought it? Serena Williams will face Marion Bartoli in a tennis match on Monday, albeit only as part of an exhibition match.

Play it like it? s… 2013? Whereby: Even five years ago, the duel between Serena Williams and Marion Bartoli, originally planned for Dubai, did not materialize. The US-American could not compete at that time. For the last time, Williams and Bartoli stood against each other on the court in Stanford in 2011, and Serena clinched their third victory in the fourth duel.

On Monday, the Madison Square Garden in New York City will see the veterans’ duel re-enact in a similar vein: Serena Williams is trying to make her comeback as much as Bartoli is trying to make her own. But the return of the Frenchwoman comes a lot more surprising than that of Serena after her baby break.

However, this meeting is not yet taking place at WTA level, but within the next edition of the Tie Break Tens. In addition to Serena and Bartoli, Coco Vandeweghe will play against Daniela Hantuchova in the first round of the tournament, Venus Williams will meet Elina Svitolina. The fourth match will be determined between Sorana Cirstea and Shau Zhang.
