ATP Challenger: Successful start for Sebastian Ofner in Chile

Sebastian Ofner made his first round at the $50,000 ATP Challenger tournament in Santiago de Chile.

Sebastian Ofner continues his upward trend: At the ATP World Tour 250 tournament in Sao Paulo, the Wimbledon sensation man from 2017 failed to reach Pablo Cuevas in last week’s round of qualifiers. Prior to that, the Styrian had finished a six-month dry spell without a win in the first round against Marco Cecchinato.

Ofner was now able to transport the momentum from Brazil to Chile via the Andes. With 6:4,2:6 and 6:4 the world rankings-140 won. at the Sandplatz-Challenger in South America against the Chilean Wildcard owner Gonzalo Lama.

In the second round, the 21-year-old from Bruck an der Mur will face the winner of the match between Thiago Monteiro (Brazil/6) and the Italian qualifier Gian Marco Moroni.
