ATP: Indian Wells: Qualifying for Petkovic and Hanfmann

With Andrea Petkovic and Yannick Hanfmann the last German participants in the qualification for Indian Wells are eliminated.

By Florian Goosmann from Indian Wells

Six German men and five women are in the main field of the Masters tournament – and it will stay that way.

Andrea Petkovic was able to turn the game against Nicole Gibbs in round one on Monday after a messed-up start, but against Taylor Townsend she was on Tuesday in front of – for qualifying conditions – an impressive backdrop without a chance. The multi-variant US-American won against “Petko” 6:3,6:2 and is therefore in the main draw. At the beginning of qualifying Sabine Lisicki had already been kicked out.

In the men’s event, only Yannick Hanfmann played for a place in the main competition. However, he also had to drop his sails at the start – he lost 2:6,5:7 against Vincent Millot.
