Olympic Games: Paralympics: Eskau wears German flag

Great honour for Andrea Eskau: The 46-year-old from Magdeburg will be honoured at the opening ceremony of the 12. Winter Paralympics on Friday (from 19.50 hrs OZ/11.50 hrs CET/ZDF) the German flag. This was announced by the German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) on Thursday.

For the six-time Paralympics winner and 20-time world champion, who will compete in biathlon and cross-country skiing from Saturday in Pyeongchang, it is already the sixth Paralympics. The paraplegic Eskau rides a handbike in summer.

In 2014 in Sochi, alpine ski racer Andrea Rothfuss led the German team. Nordic skier Frank Höfle wore the flag 2010 in Vancouver and 2002 in Salt Lake City, 2006 in Turin it was para skier Martin Braxenthaler.
