ATP: Kevin Anderson sees himself on a level with Roger Federer

Kevin Anderson and Jack Sock complete the ranking of the world’s top ten players. At the ATP Masters 1000 tournament, the South African is expected to be the most likely player.

For Kevin Anderson and Jack Sock, the tennis year 2018 has so far developed in different directions: While Anderson, who was born in South Africa and has been residing in the USA for a long time, called himself back into the collective tennis memory with his final entry in Acapulco, Jack Sock is still waiting for the first really great success experience of the current campaign. Except for his participation in the “Match for Africa 5”. Sock has contributed a lot to this with his performance against Roger Federer – but he also took it with him.

“Bill Gates is the smartest person I’ve ever met,” Sock explained during the Media Day in Indian Wells. After the speech the Microsoft founder made in San Jose, he, Sock, would have had to google for several terms to understand what Gates was talking about.

Jack Sock sees a generational shift in his core discipline, but over the past few years the top-ranked American, who has suffered as much as many other players to start with in Indian Wells against Thomas Fabbiano from Italy, has suffered.”There are a few boys, eta with the last name Federer, then this guy Nadal, and then another one called Djokovic, who have spent the last 15 years in the USA.

Kevin Anderson, on the other hand, has overtaken Jack Sock in the current ATP world rankings, finishing ninth in front of the American. By reaching the finals of the US Open in 2017, Anderson has set a career highlight. In the final, he was then without chance against Rafael Nadal in the final, but this did not diminish Anderson’s self-confidence.

“On my best day, my game is as good as Federer or Nadal’s,”says Anderson.”They can only call it up more often than I can. Anderson opens in Indian Wells against Evgeny Donskoy, who defeated Karen Khachanov in three sets in round one.
