WTA: After Serena victory: Victoria Azarenka also celebrates successful return

Victoria Azarenka has celebrated a successful return to the WTA tour. In the first round of the Premier Mandatory tournament in Indian Wells, the Belarussian won 6:4 and 6:2 against Heather Watson from Great Britain.

“I was with all my heart on the court today, that’s the most important thing,”Azarenka said after the match.

Azarenka celebrated her first win since Wimbledon in 2017, when she also won against Watson in the third round, but failed in the last 16 due to Simona Halep.

Azarenka decided not to leave the state of California for the past eight months because of a child rights dispute with her ex-boyfriend Billy McKeague. This meant that she could not participate in any tournaments.
