WTA: Bertens wants the title triple at the Nürnberger Versicherungscup

The Dutch woman Kiki Bertens aspires to win at the WTA tournament in Nuremberg (19. till 26. May) won their third title in a row.

In 2016 and 2017 Kiki Bertens has already kissed the winner’s trophy at Valzner Weiher. This spring, the world rankings 29th place would like to be won. and make the triple perfect.

“You can easily imagine how thrilled I am to come back to Nuremberg. After winning there twice, this is a very special place for me. And I hope it goes even further – let’s go to the third title,”said the 26-year-old in a press release from the tournament organizer.

Bertens is already the fourth player after the German pros Julia Görges (Bad Oldesloe), Mona Barthel (Neumünster) and Carina Witthöft (Hamburg) to have signed up for the NÜRNBERGER Versicherungscup 2018. Bertens won the qualifying title two years ago – and then only failed in the semi-finals at the French Open with Serena Williams (USA).

For Sandra Reichel, Tournament Director of the $250,000 WTA sand court tournament in the Franconian metropolis, Bertens’ commitment is a matter of the heart:”But not only am I looking forward to seeing Kiki, but our spectators have also taken her to heart over the past few years. She is super sympathetic, open-minded and without any starry tunes. And it simply always shows great tennis on the course of the 1. FC Nürnberg”, said Reichel.
