Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic have reached the second round of the doubles competition at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells. Alexander and Mischa Zverev, however, were eliminated.
Marach and Pavic, who had won their first Grand Slam title in Melbourne at the beginning of the year, began a bit unconcentrated and were quickly trailing Steve Johnson and Canadian veteran Daniel Nestor with a break. However, the Styrian and his Croatian partner managed to turn things around in the first set and finally won 7:6 (4) and 6:3. In round two, there could be a meeting with Alexander Peya and his playmate Nikola Mektic. Provided that they win their first-round match against Fabio Fognini and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi.
Alexander and Mischa Zverev, however, were eliminated. In a duel with the most prominent brothers in the doubles scene, the Germans could win a set against Bob and Mike Bryan, but after 76 minutes they finally had to admit defeat with 3:6,6:4 and 1:10.
