ATP: Kohlschreiber dupes Cilic in Indian Wells

Philipp Kohlschreiber is in the eighth-finals of the ATP tournament in Indian Wells/California for the third time. The 34-year-old from Augsburg defeated the world’s third-placed Marin Cilic from Croatia 6-4,6-4,6-4 after 83 minutes in the round of the best 32.

For Kohlschreiber, it was the seventh victory in eleventh comparison with the Australian Open finalist and former US Open winner.

“Kohli” was on hand at the Big Points in particular: in both sets, one break each was enough to give him the decisive advantage. With poisonous slice balls and great variability, the German Cilic repeatedly presented major problems in the exchange of balls. Meanwhile, the second favourite in line on position two was unable to take advantage of any of his four break chances.

The Kohlschreiber, who is seeded at number 31, now meets the Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert. The world rankings-37. is the last German in the 8.9 million dollar Hartplatzturnier.
