ATP: Tennis Olympic champion Flach deceased

Tennis Olympic champion Ken Flach (USA) passed away on Monday at the age of 54. The double specialist, who won Olympic gold medal in Seoul alongside his compatriot Robert Seguso in 1988 and won four Grand Slam titles, succumbed to the consequences of a septic shock following pneumonia.

Flach was one of the world’s best doubles in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He was at the top of the double world rankings for a total of five weeks and twice each won the double competition at the US Open (1985 and 1993) and in Wimbledon (1987 and 1988).

The Californian serve and volley specialist also played in the legendary Davis Cup duel between the USA and Germany in Hartford in 1988, where he defeated the German duo Ricki Osterthun and Eric Jelen together with Seguso.
