WTA: Indian Wells: Julia Görges clearly loses against Anastasia Sevastova

Julia Görges has to say goodbye at the WTA event in Indian Wells. The German defeated Anastasija Sevastova in the USA clearly in two sets.

A used day for the number twelve in the world. Julia Görges did not get off to a bad start against her opponent from Latvia and had only few problems with her serve at the beginning.

The longer the match lasted, the more erratic became the game of the German number two. Sevsatova, on the other hand, acted in a focused manner and sensed her chance, which first appeared in the middle of the first round. Görges wobbled at the service and had to accept the first break of the game to the 2:4 deficit.

Sevsatova served well and stayed strong from the baseline. Görges, on the other hand, acted too erroneously and had to relinquish the first round 3:6 to her opponent.

Second round started badly for the Bad Oldesloerin and so the strong serveers had to give up their service twice in a row. With a fast 3-0 lead on the scoreboard, Sevastova scaled back a bit and immediately received the receipt. However, a re-break to 1:3 should not initiate the turnaround.

A further loss of service by the Germans finally sealed the 3:6 and 3:6 defeat against the twenty-first place in the world rankings.

In the duel between the Spaniard Carla Suarez-Navarro and the Ukrainian Elina Svitolina, another title favourite had to leave. Svitolina started in Indian Wells with great expectations and was a hot candidate for victory in the Californian desert.

This project must now take at least a year to complete. Svitolina lost against her Spanish opponent in two sets and had to pack her suitcases at an early stage with 5:7 and 3:6.
