The New England Patriots lose another one of their free agents: After Dion Lewis, Malcolm Butler (both to Tennessee) and Danny Amendola (to the Dolphins) Left Tackle Nate Solder will also leave the Pats – Solder joins the New York Giants.
For a long time it was assumed that New England would hold solders. But according to NFL network insider Ian Rapoport in New York, the Tackle obviously didn’t want to go along with the deal.
Solder will collect 62 million dollars over four years, of which 35 million will be guaranteed. This deal makes Solder the best-paid offensive Lineman in the NFL.
The 29-year-old was the only truly serious starting tackle option on the market, which pushed up the price accordingly. In New York, it is without question a clear upgrade: Solder replaces Ereck Flowers.
The Giants had long been considered the favorite of top free agent Guart Andrew Norwell’s services, but he then chose the Jacksonville Jaguars. With Justin Pugh, New York itself has one of the best free agent films in its own ranks.
