NHL: Media: Chicago Blackhawks interested in Munich’s Kahun

The German international Dominik Kahun, with his strong performances at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang, has apparently aroused the interest of the Chicago Blackhawks from the NHL. As the Sport Bild reports on Wednesday, the 22-year-old middle forward of the German champion Red Bull Munich is due to sign an entry-level contract with the Blackhawks this spring.

“I had two dreams: standing on the ice at Olympia and playing in the NHL. The first one I realized, now it’s the other one. Olympics have improved my chances,”said the silver medalist from Pyeongchang.

National coach Marco Sturm is convinced of the qualities of the Stürmer Valley:”He has made an enormous stride this year, has become much more stable and more mature. I’m sure he would be able to do it in the NHL,”said Sturm to the Hamburger Morgenpost.

A total of ten NHL teams are said to have expressed interest in the silver medal winner. In the six-time Stanley Cup winner from Chicago, Kahun is to sign a two-year contract, which is to be endowed with the maximum salary of 760,000 euros per season, as stipulated in the NHL statutes.

“I am currently concentrating fully on the DEL playoffs,”emphasised Kahun, who will start into the final round with defending champions Munich in the quarter-finals against the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven on Wednesday at 7.30 p. m.”We want to win the third championship in a row. That would be something very special,”Kahun said.
