Paralympics: Edlinger wins bronze in cross-country skiing over 7.5 km

Cross-country skier Carina Edlinger won the 7.5 km bronze medal in classic style for the visually impaired at the Paralympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang on Saturday.

The Salzburg native finished third behind the winner Sviatlana Sakhanenka from Belarus and Mikhalina Lysova from Russia, who competed under a neutral flag.

“Even as a child it was the greatest thing for me when someone stood on the podium at the Olympic Games. I wanted to experience this unbelievable joy for myself once, but I can’t quite believe that the race ended,” beamed the 19-year-old in the finish area.
