David Goffin will make his comeback at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami after a break of several weeks. The injury to the 27-year-old appears to have healed.
The Belgian suffered an eye injury at the ATP tournament in Rotterdam. In the duel with Grigor Dimitrov, Goffin injured his left eye after he got the ball unhappily to the bat frame during a volley and from there he jumped into the Belgian’s eye.
After a short treatment break, the top 10 player had to give up and missed several tournaments in the weeks that followed. At the Davis Cup and the Masters 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, Goffin had to watch and let the competition take the lead.
Now there is great news for all fans of the 27-year-old. Just in time for the tournament in Miami, Goffin reported fit and announced to Instagram that he will try to finish the “Sunshine Double” in Miami.
“I’m happy to be at the Miami Open. It’s a good test for my eye and whether it will continue for the rest of the season,” explained Goffin on his Instagram profile and shows up on the plane – probably on the way to the USA.
