ATP: Nicola Kuhn celebrates first ATP Main Field victory

German-Spanish Nicola Kuhn celebrated his first victory in an ATP tour main field at the Miami Open.

Kuhn defeated Darian King from Barbados 7:6 (4), 6:4 and was successful for the first time on the ATP tour. Kuhn had played his first ATP main field match last year in Shenzhen, but lost to Donald Young in round one.

The Miami Open is known for giving wildcards to promising young players, Kuhn qualified as early as 2017.

In the second round, the 18-year-old, who was born in Innsbruck, played for Germany until 2015 and has since played for Spain, will face Fabio Fognini of Italy, who is seeded 15. Kuhn is currently ranked 211 in the world.
