Ski Jumping: Schlierenzauer equalizes world record

In the qualification for ski flying in Planica Gregor Schlierenzauer succeeds in something he probably didn’t dare to dream anymore. The Tyrolean sails down to 253.5 metres and flies to the world record distance set by Stefan Kraft in Vikersund last year.

Drop of bitterness: Schlierenzauer can’t quite stand the jump, reaches into the snow with his hand when landing. However, this does not cloud the joy of the jump in any way, as he rejoices in the ORF interview: “It was an incredible flight. Just awesome.”

After recently difficult times and mixed performances, Schlierenzauer can finally laugh again: “Ski jumping has a lot to do with self-confidence. Such an adrenaline rush is good for you in any case” For the placement in the qualifiers, the flight is of course not considered as standing. Schlierenzauer finished tenth.
