Handball: Simon Ernst drops out with another cruciate ligament rupture

Bundesliga team VfL Gummersbach has to do without captain Simon Ernst for a long time. The national player suffered another cruciate ligament rupture at the 27-29 draw against TBV Lemgo in the league on Thursday evening. This was announced by the club on Friday.

The 23-year-old had only made his comeback in early February after his first cruciate ligament rupture: “This is extremely tragic,” said VfL sports director Christoph Schindler.

By this he means above all the situation for Ernst, “who has fought back after a long rehabilitation period and now has to struggle with another setback.
