ATP: Barcelona: Mischa Zverev fails Leonardo Mayer in the first round

Mischa Zverev has already been eliminated in the first round of the ATP tournament in Barcelona. The 30-year-old from Hamburg lost to the Argentinian Leonardo Mayer after only 65 minutes 3:6, 0:6, while Zverev lost the second set in only 24 minutes against Mayer, who had seven better positions in the world rankings.

Last week at the Masters in Monte Carlo, the older brother of third in the world rankings, Alexander Zverev, had reached the round of 16.

Only two German players are left in the field at the sand court tournament in Philipp Kohlschreiber (Augsburg) and Peter Gojowczyk (Munich), which is endowed with 2.794 million euros. In the first round Kohlschreiber has to deal with the Frenchman Gilles Simon, Gojowczyk meets the Argentinian Guido Pella.
